Manhunt after Moot business robbery – Rekord Moot

The police are on a manhunt after two people were shot and killed on Thursday afternoon in a business robbery in Queenswood in the Moot in Pretoria.

On 7 November at about 12:45 three unknown armed men entered Compuport Computers Consulting in Cobham Street in Queenswood, Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said.

The robbers held up 11 people inside the store at gunpoint and demanded cellphones, jewellery and cash.

“A 61-year-old man tried to intervene, which resulted in a fight. A shot was fired which fatally wounded the man, who died on the scene,” Peters said.

“The 55-year-old business owner, who was busy in his office, heard the commotion. He took his firearm and went to investigate. A shootout occurred between him and the suspects. One suspect was fatally wounded. The business owner and his friend sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.”

Peters said the staff arrested one suspect and handed him over to the Villieria police.

One firearm was recovered.

“The third suspect escaped on foot with stolen cellphones, jewellery and cash. He is still at large.”

Peters confirmed the Villieria police were looking for the third suspect and were investigating a case of murder and business robbery.

The arrested robber will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon on numerous charges.

“Police management has utterly condemned this violent act by the unscrupulous criminals. The SAPS is taking a multidisciplinary approach to fighting all serious and violent crimes,” Peters concluded.
